DISTRESS OF NATIONS!
Luke 21:25-26
25 And there shall be signs in the
sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of
nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's
hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are
coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
The events of Luke 21
describe a future time but it doesn’t seem as distant as in a few years ago.
Revelation chapters 15 – 19 describe the horrible events that will characterize
the second half of the tribulation period described in Jeremiah 30:7.
Luke describes heart failure caused by tension and fear! Vigilance without interruption
can cause a lack of moral in troops. What might be the result of living in a
culture marked by constant threats?
Warren Wiersbe reminds us
that “Believers today look for the Saviour, not signs. However, as we see
"coming events casting their shadows," we believe that the Lord's
return is near.”
2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning
his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Dear Lord, we live in distressing
times and there are ample indications of your soon return. Help us to be both
vigilant and confident. AMEN
