REPENTANCE
BRINGS REST!
2 Cor 7:12
12
Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the
wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the
sight of God might appear unto you.
THE
BACK STORY! Paul had
confronted the Corinthian church in his first letter because a man was treating
his mother as if she were his wife! It was a church and community scandal but
the church did nothing to correct it. Paul gave some hard advice which included
formal church discipline. This he was forced to do but he feared it would harm
his relationship with the entire church.
Now,
in Paul’s second letter, the matter has been resolved and there is rest in
the church. There is rest in the young foolish man and there is rest in the
heart of Paul.

Dear Lord, let me not hold back even
hard advice although it may stir fear inside me. Let me rejoice in the rest and
peace that repentance brings. AMEN
