NO
MATTER WHAT!
Job
13:15-16
15
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways
before him.
16
He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Job
23:10
10
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth
as gold.
Job
was stubbornly trusting in God. Not only did he believe when there was
little evidence, but he chose to believe even when the evidence was against
him. Was God a good God? Job’s current experience indicated that God was
impulsive and unpredictable; that He was cruel and uncaring; and that He
rewarded good behavior with bad results. Nevertheless, Job would trust God no
matter what!
Job
found no reason to change his ways. He said: “I will maintain mine own ways
before him.” The word “maintain” actually means to argue or to dispute.
Job continued to argue that he had done nothing to deserve these painful
things. He had searched his heart and found no reason to change his habits or
behavior.
Like
Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, Job was forced to conclude that “[God]
worketh all things after the counsel of his own will” (Eph 1:11). In
other words, what God determines to do and why are His secrets to keep. Do not
allow what you don’t know to cause you to question what you do know to be true.
Deut
29:29
29
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which
are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all
the words of this law.
Dear
Lord, when we can’t see or understand your works or your purposes, let us trust
your heart. AMEN
