WISDOM
& PRUDENCE!
Prov
8:12-14
12
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil
way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
Merriam-Webster
says
that wisdom is “good sense” and prudence is “the shrewd management of practical
affairs.” Both are handy skills to have in this evil day. These skills are
products of a relationship with God! As that relationship grows stronger, evil
is revealed to be what it is and is hated. Humility replaces arrogance and
godly talk replaces cursing.
Wisdom
flees “the evil way”
and will not be the companion of arrogance and pride. God resists the proud but
gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5 and James 4:6). Replacing a proud
Democrat with a proud Republican only insures that government will continue to
be void of “good sense.” God is the Source of understanding. The shrewd
management of practical affairs does not dwell in the halls of congress. It
dwells in the hearts of the humble.
Prov
2:6-7
6
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and
understanding.
7
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk
uprightly.
Dear
Lord, I humble myself before you today and seek the good sense that only you
can give. Please guide me in the shrewd management of practical affairs. AMEN
