HE TOUCHED ME!

HE TOUCHED ME!

Mark 1:40-45
40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

To touch a leper was, in those days, either foolish or very courageous. Leprosy was slow sure death. Yet Jesus put forth his hand and touched the leper. In our sin we need Jesus to courageously touch us so that we might be clean but what is our part in the process of cleansing?

1. I must acknowledge my need of cleansing!

Rev 3:17
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

2. I must come to Jesus and make a request!

John 5:40
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

John 6:37
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

3. I must come in humility!

James 4:6
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Mark 1:40 If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

4. I must come believing!

The leper declared: “Thou canst make me clean!”

Dear Lord, I know that I am sin-sick and can’t save myself. I know that you are holy. I know that you can save me if I will only come to you and ask. Thank you for my healing. AMEN
