HOW IS YOUR EYESIGHT?
John 9:38
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into
this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be
made blind.
Jesus had just healed
a man who had
been born blind. Born that way, mind you! So dramatic was this healing that it
could only be divine intervention, so the religious guys decided to
investigate. The poor, formerly blind man could only say what he knew to be
true. Once he was blind but now, he could see. He could not comment on the
character of the Man who had healed him, nor did it matter to him.
The black robed crowd was highly offended at the man’s simple logic,
and they thrust him out of the synagogue. This happens all too often when
simple people simply meet Jesus! He encountered Jesus again – on the outside
of the church.
Jesus explains that “seeing” has a spiritual dimension that
can’t be ignored. When you think you know it all – you don’t. If you are certain
that you can’t see clearly, it is then you begin to perceive.
Dear Lord, help me to see you clearly enough
to follow you. AMEN
