ALL LIARS
Rev 21:6-8
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water
of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God,
and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall
have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the
second death.
I wanted to set these words in their context because the
condemnation seems severe for which of us are guilt free regarding telling
lies? Perhaps it is our current political chaos that brought this to mind because
leadership lies have such dire consequences.
I checked a few commentaries and the
general idea identifies the liar as one who intends to deceive even by telling a
partial truth.
Adam Clarke says this:
[And all liars] Kai pasin tois pseudesin
Every one who speaks contrary
to the truth when he knows the truth, and even he who speaks the truth with the
intention to deceive; i.e. to persuade a person that a thing is different from
what it really is, by telling only a part of the truth, or suppressing some
circumstance which would have led the hearer to a different and to the true
conclusion.

Dr. Albert Barnes says this:
[And all liars] All who are false in their statements, their promises,
their contracts. The word would embrace all who are false toward God (Acts
5:1-3), and false toward human beings. See Rom 1:31.

Prov 19:5
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies
shall not escape.
Lord, let me seek peace and pursue truth. AMEN
