ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES
Gal 6:7-8
7 Be not
deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he
also reap.
8 For he that
soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to
the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Prov 4:23
23 Keep thy heart
with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
It is strangely
true that when we observe this principle we are not permitted to say so. We
see a person fall into trouble and immediately think of the trouble he has
caused others … but we can’t talk of it. It is not socially acceptable even
when others may be thinking the same thing. Buddhists talk about Karma and Texans
will say “What goes around comes around” but Christians have heard of Job, so
they try to refrain from quick judgment.
Christians are
cautioned to think before they act for every action has a corresponding response.
We are also warned to guard our thoughts because actions, both bad and good,
begin with a good or bad thought. In these things we often fail and then pray
that we might reap something other than what we have sown. Thankfully,
Christians have an antidote for the poisoned
thought and action. It is grace.
Ps 130:3-4
3 If thou, LORD,
shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be
feared.
Lord, please give me strength to withhold evil actions, wisdom to control
my thoughts, and grace for my failures. AMEN
