THE APOSTACY

2 Thess 2:1-4

2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

          It is becoming more difficult to watch the news! The perilous [fierce] times have come, and we stand aghast at them. Please understand that this is not simply the result of poor leadership by a geriatric old man or a billionaire with orange hair. It is the energetic activity of Satanic panic. He knows his time is short (Rev. 12:12) and he is demonstrating great wrath.

          War swords rattling on at least two major fronts with other little fires erupting, civil lawlessness and violence of soulless predators, and chaos headline the daily fare. Remaining faithful requires ever more grit.

          THE APOSTACY, for that is the literal rendering of the original, has already begun and is being accelerated by the pure convenience of abandoning faith. We seem to have lost a suitable “model” for Christian faith because we have abandoned holiness and replaced it with a tepid form of religion while denying its power. (Rev. 3:16)

1 Cor 15:58

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Tim 2:3

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Lord, these days require a willingness to suffer that is not being presented in our churches. Give us the strength and will to endure. Even so come quickly. AMEN
