HOW TO HAVE A RIGHT ATTITUDE
WHILE STANDING IN A DEEP HOLE
Gen 37:23-24
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his
brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours
that was on him;
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit
was empty, there was no water in it.
This was not the beginning
of Joseph’s story, and it certainly was not the end. You might say it was the
beginning of his life’s purpose which was to redeem his people. In that sense,
Joseph is a type of Messiah because he lived a life of suffering and sacrifice
which benefited many others.
Joseph’s odyssey of unfairness did not cause him to live life as a victim. He did not sour,
and he did not abandon his integrity. He yielded to those things he did not understand.
He refused to focus on the orchestra. He, instead, focused on the conductor so
that when his measure came, he could play his part.
Because Joseph
rejected the idea that he was a victim, he refused to victimize others He was
not vengeful. When given the opportunity to repay the hateful acts of his
brothers, he repaid them with kindness, generosity, and tears.
Matt 5:43-44
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that
curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully
use you, and persecute you;
Dear Lord, let me be Christ-like in all my relationships. Let
me trust without scheming. AMEN
