IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK

 

2 Cor 11:13-14

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

 

1 Peter 5:8

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

 

           “If it looks like a duck” is so familiar to us that immediately we can finish the limerick. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. But the subtle and subversive actions and appearances of genuine evil garners many biblical warnings.

 

Satan has three forms under which he tempts men:

 

1. The subtle serpent.

2. The roaring lion.

3. The angel of light.

 

           Sobriety and vigilance are a must for believers as we approach the end of the age. Those without a relationship to Jesus but are moral, are easily duped by many things that look good, sound good, and smell good. I’m thankful for the indwelling Holy Spirit that sounds warnings for me. This same warning system is available to all.

 

Titus 2:11-12

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

 

Lord, give me eyes that can see through Satan’s disguises, ears that can discern lies, and a heart that understands truth. AMEN
