DEALING WITH INJUSTICE
Eccl 10:4-7
4 If the spirit
of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; [do not resist
irrationally] for yielding pacifies great offences.
5 There is an
evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error
which proceeds from the ruler:
6 Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low
place.
7 I have seen
servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
Solomon observed the
chaos that will naturally occur when unqualified leaders are in authority. Kind
follows kind, and a leader who is full of folly will attract all manner of weirdness
and damage to himself. Servants are given horses and princes are forced to
walk.
Our Supreme Court has but one function
and that is to assure that laws created in the echoing halls are not contrary
to the original intent of our founding documents. They are ever adjured to
bring those laws in line or to eliminate them. It is unreasonable to expect
anything but outrage from those who would rewrite an unalienable right.
There is, of
course, a higher court before which we all must stand – even those who
disavow this court. They shall stand with their placards, hastily scrawled on
empty Amazon boxes with left over lipstick – but they will stand. They will plead their cause, but they will not be judged by the
volume of their voice but by truth.
Justice cannot be
transformed by our angry response to it, for that would produce injustice. Whenever
injustice is resisted with reason and truth, it is unreasonable to expect anything
but rage which is meant to restore the injustice. Truth
cannot become a lie by burning its house down!
Matt 24:12-14
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that
shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this
gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all
nations; and then shall the end come.
Lord, your next coming seems to approach with blinding speed. Let us
be ready. AMEN
