A SATISFIED MIND!

 

Prov 14:30

30 A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. KJV

 

           In business there is a strong spirit of competition. Most of us understand the phrase “dog eat dog.” Long hours performing tedious tasks while wearing uncomfortable clothes to impress people we do not really like makes for early heart attacks. In business, it is hard to find a satisfied mind.

 

           Our emotions affect our physical health. Anger, envy, jealousy, and disappointment can literally make one sick. A heart of peace or a “mind of health” produces a healthy body. This is much more than saying “who cares.” It is understanding that God cares. A healthy mind is focused on the final outcome instead of the contentious process.

 

           Ministers are not immune to this spirit of competition! Even the disciples argued as to which of them should be “first.” The mother of Zebedee’s children asked, “could you arrange for my sons to sit one on your right hand and the other on your left in your kingdom?” It seems that nobody wants to wash feet.

 

Isa 26:3-4

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: KJV

 

Dear Lord, keep my mind stayed upon you. Cleans me from envy and frustration. Let me be at peace with my circumstances. AMEN
