FINALLY
SATISFIED!
Ps
107:8-9
8
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works
to the children of men!
9
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Have
you ever stood
before an open refrigerator door searching for something that would satisfy
some unknown craving? A taste of this and a sampling of that can empty the
fridge but will not fill the empty spot in your soul. The root cause of
overindulgence is not so much a lack of discipline but a misinterpretation of
our hunger. We are spiritual beings and our souls are searching for a
satisfying relationship with our Maker.
Once
again I awoke with an old song playing in my mind. From the library of
remembrance God selected an old hymn that is seldom heard in these days of
syncopation and repetition. “I’m Satisfied!” is the name of the
song and I include it here. May your soul reconnect with the Savior and be
satisfied.
1. All my
life long I had panted
For a draught from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.
For a draught from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.
·
Hallelujah! I have
found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings;
Through His blood I now am saved.
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings;
Through His blood I now am saved.
2.
Feeding on the husks around me,
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.
3. Poor I
was, and sought for riches,
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul's sad cry.
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul's sad cry.
4. Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life, so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.

Dear Father, help me to run to you when my soul is hungry. AMEN
