MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS

 

Acts 1:1-3

1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

 

1 Cor 15:3-6

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

 

          Oh, to have seen Him! To have been one of those alive during those post-crucifixion forty days! But, alas, they are fallen asleep and we have only their firm testimony. Thomas, being our kin in doubt, was invited to examine and touch the nail piercings in His hands. Even Thomas was given proof, but Jesus declared that those who believe without proof are the better blessed.

 

John 20:29

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

 

Dear Lord, to some, an empty tomb only meant an absent body, but to others it meant a living Christ. Give us the courage to believe without the proof that Thomas had. AMEN
