WORK TOGETHER
Rom 8:28
28 And
we know that all things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his
purpose.
We only
see this phrase one time in the KJV and both WORK and TOGETHER are translated
from only one Greek word which is sunergeo. This
Greek word has the idea of cooperation and partnership. In
some cases, it indicates a fellow-worker or helper.
But this
promise is not for everyone! It is limited to those “who
are THE called according to HIS purpose.” It is further qualified in verse 29. You
see, the partner that is indicated by sunergeo is
none other than our sweet Holy Spirit. Jesus promised Him to the born-again
believer.
John 14:16-17
16 And
I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another
Comforter, [One to replace me because I must go away] that he may abide with you
forever;
17 Even
the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in
you.
The word “another” in
verse 16 is translated from the Greek word allos
which means not only “different” but
also “more.” So,
Jesus promised a different helper and more. Moreover, the word Comforter, which is capitalized in my
Bible, is translated from the Greek word parakletos which
indicates an intercessor [one who prays for me]
and consoler [one who comforts me in difficult
situations].
Please
know that “all things” that happen to us may not be “good” but that is not what is promised. In fact, Jesus warned us that “in this world we
would have tribulation.” (See John 16:33) What He did promise is that
everything is figure-out-able and that He
has already figured it out.
Too
numerous to mention are the Bible characters who could testify to this. Some
examples would be Moses who was hid in a small basket in the water to save him
from the Egyptians who were killing Jewish boy babies. Ruth, who chose to
return with Naomi, and Boaz, who found Ruth in a field gleaning grain behind
the harvesters. Dear reader, God has never relinquished oversight. You can
trust Him.
Matt 6:26
26
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather
into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than
they?
How often, Dear Lord, have I forgotten your promise of control
and care. Remind me that you are powerful, providential, and present. AMEN
