LEAP FOR JOY

Luke 1:26-27

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. KJV

Luke 1:39-44

39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43 And whence is this [why is this granted] to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. KJV

          The program of redemption had begun and John, still forming in his mother Elizabeth’s womb, recognized it. Could this unborn child know and understand the full consequence of his own birth as well as that of Jesus? Filled with the Holy Spirit and with wonder, both women praised God who had included them in His plan.

          Both boys would eventually give their life for redemption’s plan. John, because he told the truth, and Jesus because he IS the truth. Even today, the truth can be a dangerous thing.

Joy To The World

No more let sins and sorrows grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make His blessings flow

Far as the curse is found,

Far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as, the curse is found.

Luke 1:46-47

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Dear Lord, once again we find ourselves in a world that is unwelcoming to the truth and unfamiliar with it. We who know the truth have been made free and have angered those who prefer the darkness. Yet in that darkness shines the everlasting light. O, come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel. AMEN
