DON’T LOSE YOUR FOCUS
Prov 4:25-27
25 Let your eyes
look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you.
26 Consider well
the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright.
27 Turn not aside
to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil.

In teaching his son, Solomon
presented and reinforced the principal of focus. Investigators
must be careful to not chase false leads that tear them away from the evidence.
Racehorses sometimes are fitted with blinders to reduce their peripheral vision
and to keep them focused on their task of winning the race.
The woman at the
well (John 4:20-21) tried to distract Jesus from His pursuit of her soul by
inserting a well-worn argument that had no solution. In Genesis, Satan enticed
Eve by pointing out the supposed benefits of the forbidden fruit while ignoring
the most important feature. If she ate it, she would die.
I remember the battery-operated
Hasbro game of “Operation.” The player was to remove various bones and such
from the patient without triggering the electrified opening. If he did not focus,
he would kill the patient. Some things in the Christian’s life are similar in
nature. Don’t lose your focus.
Phil 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I
count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those
things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward
the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Lord, guide those who have serious and delicate issues confronting them.
AMEN
