DO YOU FEEL INVISIBLE?

Luke 16:20-21

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

Ps 9:9

9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Lazarus positioned himself in a conspicuous spot in the rich man’s gate. He hoped to be noticed. He was in great need. Even a few scraps of food from the table would have been a feast for him. To the rich man, he was invisible and his pleas inaudible. His cause was insignificant and easily dismissed.

Perhaps you have felt invisible too. Maybe even now you feel as if nobody cares. Well, don’t join the careless people by refusing to care for yourself! Don’t jump off the cliff of despondency into the pit of doubt. Never agree with those who discount you. I’m not encouraging pride but never give way to self-loathing.

I try to pay attention to people. Each one is unique, you know! Children often act out because they feel invisible. I like children. They are honest. The elderly often feel invisible. Their bodies no longer serve them as they once did. Bones are brittle and joints are painful. Their minds are clouded. I try to pay attention to them. There are countless stories they would tell if only someone would listen.

James 1:27

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Lord, let me never become too busy or self-absorbed to see the invisible people all around me. AMEN
