THE PEACE OF GOD!

Phil 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace is that quietness of spirit that signals everything is alright. In that peaceful place the winds are mild, and the temperatures are moderate; bills are paid and there is sufficient for today. In that peaceful place our relationships are pleasant, and our enemies are kept far away. Peace! How we long for peace but there are at least four areas that are subject to turmoil.

The heart is wounded throughout life by harmful things we have done and by damage done to us by others. One is guilt and the other is hurt. Unless we allow the Good Samaritan to bind up those wounds the hurt of the past will disturb our peace.

Ps 34:18-19

18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

The mind is divided against itself and disturbs our peace. We profess to believe but there is inward doubt. Our greatest doubt is regarding our own value.

Matt 10:29-31

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

The will becomes paralyzed and we suffer the loss of peace that comes from indecision. We halt between two opinions and in doing so neither seems right.

Josh 24:15

15 And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

The soul is exposed to too much noise, business, information, and entertainment. The soul needs quietness, meditation, and rest. The soul needs prayer. Even the music we choose either agitates us or soothes us. Choose quiet places, quiet people, and quiet music. Find a place of refuge for the soul.

John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Dear Lord, give peace to those who are troubled today. AMEN
