THE EYES OF THE LORD!
Deut 11:11-12
11 But
the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and
drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12 A
land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon
it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
A chosen land for a redeemed people! That’s what God had in mind for the
Jews returning from Egyptian captivity. In this section, Moses reviews various
laws which will govern their lives in the Promised Land (12:1). Some of the
Jews might have thought, “once we get into the land, we can live as we please
and still enjoy its wealth.” Not so, for the eyes of the Lord were always upon
it. This land would return to its inhabitants evil for evil and good for good.
Salvation is by grace but blessings
are often conditional.
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and
he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will
manifest myself to him.” (John 14:21) I
truly believe our very own land is beginning to respond by returning to its
inhabitants evil for evil and good for good. The whole earth “groans” (Romans
8:22) under the weight of our rebellion.
God is watching as we begin this new
year.
His eyes sweep our land searching for someone to bless. Will you be that
person?
2 Chron 16:9
9 For
the eyes of the Lord run to and fro
throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose
heart is perfect toward him.
Dear Lord,
let me be that person who catches your eye for good. AMEN
