SIGNS OF HIS COMING!

1 Thess 5:1-4

5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

           Dr. Robert Jeffress, former pastor of First Baptist Church Wichita Falls and now pastor of First Baptist Dallas, said: “Leon Trotsky, a Marxist philosopher and revolutionary, is credited with saying, “Whoever longs for a quiet life has been born in the wrong generation.” He wrote those words almost 100 years ago. The world wasn’t peaceful in his day, and it is not peaceful today either. See if any of these places sound familiar to you: Iraq, Syria, the Ukraine, Hong Kong, the East China Sea, Crimea, Chechnya, Serbia, Kosovo, Lebanon, Kashmir, Somalia, Yemen, Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. These are just a few of the hot spots in the world. Think about it: 70 years ago American troops were fighting in Germany and Japan. Then they moved to Korea. Then Vietnam. Then they moved to the Persian Gulf and the Middle East. We can add to the list of countries Afghanistan and Pakistan, and who knows how many other Middle Eastern countries will be added to the list.”

           Peter wrote his first epistle “ to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.” 1 Peter 1:1 It is likely these were scattered under the general persecution of the church recorded in Acts chapter eight. Nero was Emperor of the Roman Empire and both Paul and Peter were put to death under his reign.

           In America, our nation seems hell-bent for self destruction. The restriction of personal liberties and the disarmament of the average citizen has created a dangerous and uncomfortable way of life. The drive toward global government and universal economy has tarnished everything of value.

           The New Morality is really no morality at all. All ten of the commandments have been replaced with new thought. Life, especially of the unborn and the elderly, is no longer respected. Foolishness has replaced wisdom and idiocy has replaced foolishness. Chaos of thought drives chaos of actions.

           Jesus said: “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) The program of God is right on schedule and it appears that we are possibly the generation that will experience the rapture.

1 Thess 4:16-18

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Dear Lord, it is getting pretty bad down here as you well know. Help me to be prepared for your soon coming. AMEN
