SWEET
HOUR OF PRAYER!
Gen
3:8
8
And
they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the
day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God
amongst the trees of the garden.
Matt
26:38-40
38
Then
saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye
here, and watch with me.
39
And
he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my
Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I
will, but as thou wilt.
40
And
he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter,
What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Whether
hiding or sleeping,
man finds too many opportunities to withdraw from contact with an intensely
holy God. Adam hid from God’s companionship in the evening’s refreshing
coolness. Peter slept through Jesus’ hour of intense grief. Is an hour too much
to ask?
Oh!
I have rediscovered that early hour spent listening to God’s word and then
allowing my eyes to be washed with tears as I listen to sweet worship. Asking
nothing, I simply allow God’s sweet Holy Spirit to wash over me. Sweet, sweet
hour of prayer! This is worship on a personal level.
Sweet
hour of prayer!
Sweet
hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Thank
you Jesus for that wonderful hour so early in the morning where I receive my
washing. AMEN
