GOD REMEMBERS!

GOD REMEMBERS!

Heb 6:10
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

          Yesterday a small crew of youth leaders and young people disassembled the large Christmas tree in our fellowship hall. It is a joyless and thankless job; like singing Christmas carols in reverse. I watched them from my open office door with great admiration and wondered if they felt appreciated or forgotten.

          The writer of Hebrews reminds us that God does remember these little tasks of love. In fact, he uses somewhat unusual language when he says that “God is not unrighteous to forget.” We can be assured that God won’t ever sin against us by forgetting. From shoveling snow in winter to planting flowers in the summer, God remembers – and most likely records – every act of the volunteer.

          I watched these young people for a few minutes. One young lady, twig thin and with a fresh license to drive tucked away in her pocket, struggle with a tall ladder. The look on her face was not frustration but determination. She’ll make it. Others were scurrying around like Santa’s helpers in December 26th. How I love these kids and want the very best for them.

1 Thess 1:2-3
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father.

Dear Father, reward those obscure volunteers who offer the sacrifice of unseen service. AMEN
