BLESS YOUR MOTHER!

BLESS YOUR MOTHER!

Prov 30:11-14
11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

In these verses Solomon points out four great evils that prevailed in his time and now appear in ours. He begins in the home where children not only disobey parents but treat them in an evil way. This theme repeats itself often in Proverbs.

Prov 30:17
17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

Prov 20:20
20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

The word “bless” in verse 11 means “to kneel before” and indicates adoration. When used in the negative [not to bless] it has the same force as treason. It is worthy of death as we see in Prov. 20:20. Youthful rebellion and disrespect is both common and shockingly abnormal.

My mother is in heaven. I can not hold her to me today in a physical embrace. I miss her dearly and can still see her face when I close my eyes and focus. In life she was not perfect but not so imperfect as anybody would notice. She was Mom! She was a country philosopher and had a few wise sayings that still make me smile because they are still true.

If your mother is still living then “bless your mother!” Give her honor, respect and attention. If she has passed from this life then honor her memory and bless that empty space in your heart where she once was.

Eph 6:2-3
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Dear Lord, please give Momma a hug for me. Thanks
