VARIABLE TRUTH!

Gen 3:4-5

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

           The New Age Movement is turning grey! Moreover, it has produced children and grandchildren! The New Age movement spread through the occult and metaphysical religious communities in the 1970s and ʾ80s. It was the next and coolest thing. It coincided with what came to be known as the “hippy generation” and the emergence of the drug culture. It looked forward to a “New Age” of love and light and offered a foretaste of the coming era through personal transformation and healing. The Beatles song “My Sweet Lord” was NOT talking about Jesus but rather Guru Saakshaat Parabrahma – the Hindu incarnation of the supreme god.

           One New Age teaching was what I call variable truth. Variable truth is the idea that truth is fluid. What is true for you may not be true for me. This allows a person to break long standing moral laws and still attend church. By ignoring sin and focusing on their church relationship they can eliminate guilt and defend their actions by claiming some variety of truth that is exclusive to them alone.

           In fact, one of the meanings of the word “knowing” in Genesis 3:5 is “to determine what is truth.” It is discernment but more than discernment. Literally, Satan was saying that Eve would get to choose what was and was not truth … just like God. It is easy to see the product of this kind of thinking.

Rom 1:24-25

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Lord, let me know and study YOUR truth so that I may be free. AMEN
