HIS
PLANS FOR YOU
Jer 29:11
11 For
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace,
and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
What looked so terribly bad was
made worse by disingenuous false prophets who made promises for personal gain. The
Jews were captives in Babylon, and they would remain so for another seventy
years. Their need was for endurance and hope. They were to build houses, raise
families, and patiently hope.
So here we are again,
fuzzy headed and sleepy-eyed due to the window rattling celebration of a new
calendar. Such must have been the scene when Moses returned from the mountain. He
saw unthinking worship of a home-made golden calf that was most recently your
neighbor’s earrings. Forrest’s mother was right. “Stupid is as stupid does.”
My hope for the New Year is
firmly grounded in the nature and character of the Son of God who loved me and
gave Himself for me. He has plans and those plans will not be derailed by my
misunderstanding of them nor my misguided attempts to help the One who needs no
help from me.
Ps 37:7-8
7 Rest
in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who
prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
Lord, help me to press steadily onward as I wait for your
marvelous plans to unfold. AMEN
