THE KINGDOM AS A GIFT
Luke 12:29-32
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither
be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and
your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be
added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
It is the season of gift giving and everyone
seems to be keeping secrets, but the basis of our giving is HIS giving. Jesus
is the speaker in this portion of the book of Luke and He is giving assurances
to His fretful people. The daily gathering of stuff seems to be always on our
minds. What shall we eat? What shall we drink and what shall I wear? Well, the
Father knows we need those things and giving them to us is His delight.
Adam Clarke says that Jesus used Luke
12:32 “to mikron poimnion” as a double diminutive. Small, yes, very small. The word “little” in
our language is sometimes used to indicate those things that we love because
they are precious to us. This is especially true when referring to people. Jesus,
the Good Shepherd, loves His little flock.
Since it is the Father’s good
pleasure to give us the kingdom [all of it and every bit of it] then why not
bread and drink and clothing? This is the very idea of the conversation. Do not
fear. Do not allow your mind to be pushed off balance. Trust with good reason
because what you need is joy to the Father to give.
Eph 1:7-9
7 In whom [in Him] we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded [given lavishly] toward us in all wisdom and
prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
KJV
Thank You, Father for not only meeting our
needs but for dumping blessings upon us. AMEN
