YOU
CAN’T UN-SURRENDER!

Peter 3:17
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know
these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the
wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
James
1:6
For he that wavereth is like a wave of
the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
I have known of many
who make tearful decisions to follow the Lord only to later change their minds.
Caught up in the emotion of the moment, they “surrendered” their life to the
Lord but now they seek to build a career in making money and selfish interests.
They have fallen from their own stedfastness. Christian ministry, for example
is not a career but a calling.
Stedfastness, as it is used in the Bible,
is the word for “stability.” The word “wavereth” in James 1:6, means “to
withdraw from.” It is sad to see so many who withdraw from worship. Some
withdraw from fellowship with other Christians knowing that the light of
fellowship is actually accountability and their present behavior can’t endure
the light.
Well, dear friend, you can’t un-surrender
to the Lord. You can only rebel against Him and that is a dangerous thing to do
especially for those who are truly His children. My mother had little reaction
if a neighbor child sassed her but her reaction was immediate and unpleasant if
I sassed her. I soon learned not to do it.
Num
30:2
2 If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or
swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he
shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
Eccl
5:4
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer
not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast
vowed.
Dear Lord, although the way be rough and steep, I
will walk the way you have chosen for me. I will not defer to pay my vows. AMEN
