WHAT’S
ON YOUR MIND?
Rom
1:21
21
Because
that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful;
but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish
heart was darkened.
2
Cor 10:4-5
4
(For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strong holds;)
5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought
to the obedience of Christ;
2
Cor 4:3-4
3
But
if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4
In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them
which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the
image of God, should shine unto them.
Two
very similar Greek words are translated “imaginations” in our verses above.
One is logismos which basically means “computation or reasoning”
and another is dialogismos which means “internal consideration or
debate.”
Instantly,
we recognize
that there is a conference room in our minds. We fantasize about improbable
things, scheme about unethical things, and daydream about wistful things. We
argue with ourselves and encourage ourselves. We store data and images both
real and imaginary.
It
is said that an idle mind is the Devil’s workshop! It is also
God’s workshop. There the conflict rages for control of our beings. We
fall in the direction we are leaning! We are the ultimate master of the
mind. We decide and then we act.
Prov
4:23
23
Keep
thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Dear
Lord, keep watch over my heart and mind today! Let me yield to your mind and
agree with you in all things. AMEN
