WHERE TO FIND WISDOM!

WHERE TO FIND WISDOM!

Jer 4:22
22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Jer 8:9
9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord ; and what wisdom is in them?

Intellectual power without moral control was the very fruit of the forbidden tree (Gen 3:5). (International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia, All rights reserved.) Satan offered Eve the ability to know without the discipline and moral constraint required to manage that knowledge. The apostle Paul declared that the message of the cross is foolishness to the Greeks and a stumbling block to the Jews. But to those who believe, said Paul, this "foolishness of God" is "the wisdom of God" (1 Cor 1:18-25). (from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Copyright © 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers)

Wisdom is the result of taking God seriously! The increase of knowledge and the collection of factual information is not wisdom. Wisdom gathers the information and then plots appropriate actions. Biblical wisdom is the “theoretical and practical acceptance of divine revelation.” (Unger’s Bible Dictionary)

Prov 8:33-36
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.
36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Don't expect wisdom to come into your life like great chunks of rock on a conveyor belt. It isn't like that. It's not splashy and bold . . . nor is it dispensed like a prescription across a counter. Wisdom comes privately from God as a by-product of right decisions, godly reactions, and the application of spiritual principles to daily circumstances. Wisdom comes . . . not from trying to do great things for God . . . but more from being faithful to the small, obscure tasks few people ever see. Charles R. Swindoll (1934- )

Dear Lord, lead me to take you seriously and make me wise today. AMEN
