ON CHRIST, THE SOLID ROCK
Matt 7:24-27
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them
not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the
sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Do not lose your focus. The topic
in the above Scripture it is not rain or rocks but “these sayings of mine.”
There are consequences to our responses to them.
Today’s news tells of a most devastating hurricane,
rockets raining upon Israel, port workers striking, and a government in chaos.
Where will we find firm footing? We shall find stability on The Rock.
On Christ the Solid Rock
Author: Edward Mote (1834)
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils his lovely
face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]
Lord, things are in a
mess down here! Thank you for the stability we may have in Christ. AMEN
