ALL PEOPLE MEANS YOU
Luke 2:10-11
10 And the angel
said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you
is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:29-32
29 Lord, now
lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30 For mine eyes
have seen thy salvation,
31 Which thou
hast prepared before the face of all people;
32 A light to
lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
All people, pas laos, is found twice in Luke two. The angel of the Lord declared it unto the
shepherds. Think of it, an announcement from the highest realms to those on the
lowest social level. If that were not enough, the angel emphasized that the
babe would be born “unto you.”
Simeon, in his
prophetic utterance, mentioned that salvation had been prepared for all people, pas laos. However, this
time there is the definite article, ho, which makes it
both specific and emphatic. THE people, or this
VERY people. Then he added a missionary aspect to his song. He mentioned both
the Gentiles as well as the people of Israel.
Ah, my friend, salvation is
for you! Believe it! Receive it! Rejoice because of it! It is for you.
Dear Lord, I rejoice in knowing that salvation was and is for me.
Thank you for announcing it to the lowest of us. AMEN
