WITH MANY OR WITH FEW
2 Chron 14:9-12
9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with
an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto
Mareshah.
10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in
array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it
is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no
power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we
go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail
against thee.
12 So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa and before
Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
Europe once again is aflame with war and our hearts are with those who are surrounded
by a superior foe. We are reminded that Gideon began a conflict with a rather
large army which the Lord reduced to just three hundred.
Judges 7:2 & 6-7
2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The
people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their
hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath
saved me.
6 And the number of them that lapped,
putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of
the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By
the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites
into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.
I remember
an old church chorus we used to sing. It may be appropriate for you today.
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains, you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible
And He can do what no other power can do.
Dear God of Battles, empower the weak today and get glory to
yourself. AMEN
