BLURRED
VISION!
Luke
11:33-35
33
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither
under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the
light.
34
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole
body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full
of darkness.
35
Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
When
we trust Jesus as our Savior, our spiritual eyes are opened and we
are given new light. We, by the Holy Spirit, are able to see what God wants us
to see. (John 8:12) We stop stumbling because our vision is properly focused.
Those who are still unsaved are blinded (2 Corinthians 4:3-6) and their
perspective is blurred by the Devil’s distractions (Ephesians 5:8-14).
A
few years ago,
my wife developed a strange medical condition. Inside her right sinus cavity a
small tumor began to grow and it literally threatened her life. It grew so
large as to move her eyeball to one side which caused her to have double
vision. It was nauseating! Once the growth was surgically removed her vision
returned to normal because her eyes had a single focus.
We
can’t divide our focus and still walk a straight path! We can’t have
one eye on God and the other on the world (1 John 2:16). Our light becomes
darkness when we try to merge the philosophies of right and wrong. Our sense of
right and wrong become skewed and we begin to confuse beauty and ugliness.
The
Scribes and Pharisees claimed to “see the light” but they were
so hardened that they could not discern between light and darkness. Jesus gave
them warning and then walked away from them.
John
12:35-36
35
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while
ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness
knoweth not whither he goeth.
36
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of
light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Dear
Light of the World, shine upon me today. Let my eyes be focused on the things
of God. AMEN
