CHRISTIAN
COURAGE!
Isa
59:19
When
the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift
up a standard against him.
Dan
3:15-18
15
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute,
harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down
and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall
be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is
that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O
Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery
furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy
gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
It
is unfortunate that Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists dated
January 1, 1802 provided what the secularists have been holding over the head
of Christians and Churches since that time. In this letter he uses the phrase
“separation of church and state” but the phrase has been taken totally out of
context. Jefferson never intended that church should never influence the state
but that there should be a wall preventing interference of state in the affairs
of church. The letter is clear in this matter.
“Believing with you that religion is a
matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes
account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the
legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not
opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American
people which declared that their legislature should "make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church
& State.” Thomas Jefferson
For a few dollars of tax exempt
contributions,
churches and pastors have been silenced. Their right to endorse political
candidates and even to comment on social issues have been sternly challenged.
The whole “separation” issue has effectively become an illegal and
unconstitutional gag order. Our constitution, rather than forbid endorsements,
protects our freedom to comment on social issues and to endorse candidates.
This is guaranteed to us in the first amendment!
And so, facing the fiery furnace, I publically
endorse Mitt Romney for President in 2012. In fact the entire Democrat
Party and all its candidates have proven itself unworthy of my support or the
support of any thinking Christian. More on this will be forthcoming in a
pastoral letter soon to be presented to our congregation. The time has long
past for pastors and churches to emerge from their places of hiding and to
clearly present biblical standards.
Dan
3:17
Our
God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery
furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
Dear
Lord, it is not our intention to taunt our government but we can no longer hide
in cowardice when it is our duty to speak up for righteousness. Preserve us in
this cause. AMEN
