LIKE A FLOOD!

 

Isa 59:18-19

18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

 

          Our news is full of the corruption of our government and the sin of our culture. In our major cities neighbor is killing neighbor and we have acquiesced to the wholesale murder of the unborn. There is no just scale in the markets. We have become an oppressed people. A nation of the working poor.

 

          So it was in the days of Isaiah. The rich exploited the poor and used their authority to maintain their wealth and wickedness. The nation was in distress because God was not hearing their prayers (see Isaiah 1:15). There was a double standard of justice. One for the powerful and another for the common man.   

“None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.” Isa 59:4

 

          Isaiah says the answer is the Holy Spirit! We must connect with Him and ask Him to lift up a standard. We are experiencing a moral invasion and we must mount a spiritual resistance. This kind of warfare is best done on our knees.

 

2 Chron 7:14

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

 

Dear God of Battles, we are amazed at the sheer volume of wickedness in our day. We are weary of it and yet part of it. Come and lift up your standard against it and heal our land. AMEN
